This year has been unlike any others, to say the least. We remain grateful for and heartened by the continued support of affiliated drystone masons, volunteers, project partners, donors, and craft enthusiasts like you!
As with most nonprofit organizations these days, Dry Stone Conservancy’s daily operations have been significantly disrupted due to COVID concerns and restrictions, however not without some successes.
Despite having to cancel our spring workshops, then our fall workshops, alter our certification plans, and defer two mason training/restoration projects into next year, we have still been hard at work on our core mission to preserve historic drystone structures and promote the ancient craft of dry-laid stone masonry.
We have maintained our certification program and helped several drystone masons advance their professional certification at a new farm entrance project in central Kentucky. We took on several training/restoration projects to repair roughly 400 linear feet of historic Kentucky rock fences on Paris Pike, Richmond Road, and Legacy Trail in Fayette County, as well as another in Clark County.
Our Referral List of Professional Dry Stone Masons has been consulted numerous times this year by owners and project managers of drystone projects in KY and beyond, including several big wall projects in NY, TN, WY and MD.
All the while, we have continued providing technical assistance to inquiries from the public and private sectors. And, we are rockin’ and rollin’ on plans for 2021 workshops, clinics, projects, and events.
That’s not to say we don’t still need your help. Every penny counts, especially this year. So please consider contributing to our mission today! You can also support us by buying products from our online store. We really couldn’t do it without the ongoing support of people like you.
With appreciation and best wishes,
The DSC Board and Staff.
